We’re Jim and Dianna Burt, and this property is our family’s labor of love. We welcome couples from all over Mississippi, and we think the chapel is the perfect place to start your story.
A Chapel with Roots in the 1800s
Hopewell Chapel dates back to the 1800s. It has been fully renovated with care, but we made sure to keep the things that make it feel timeless, including the original heart pine floors. Walk inside and you’ll feel that warmth right away. The historic character is still here, in the details and in the feeling of the room.
Whether you picture an intimate ceremony inside or vows under the open sky, you can say “I do” inside the chapel, right in front of it, or elsewhere on the property.
A Property Full of History
The chapel isn’t the only part of this land with a story. Over the years, this property has served as a chapel, a school, a gymnasium, and even a polling station. Our Alva House sits on the historic site of the old Alva High School. Your wedding day becomes one more chapter in that story.

Since we’re wedding photographers and videographers ourselves, we see this property through a camera lens. Hopewell Chapel is beautiful to photograph both inside and out. The heart pine floors and historic interior give your ceremony photos a warm, classic feel, and the chapel’s exterior makes a charming backdrop for portraits, family photos, and those candid moments you’ll treasure forever. The Barn: Your Reception, Right Next Door
After the ceremony, the celebration moves to the Barn, with plenty of room for dinner, dancing, and toasts. Having your ceremony and reception in one place means no shuttling guests between venues. That makes the whole day feel more relaxed for you and everyone you love.
The Alva House: Stay, Get Ready, and Gather
The Alva House sleeps up to 10 and includes a bridal suite, a full kitchen, a living room, laundry, and two full bathrooms. It’s a comfortable home base for getting ready on the big day.
