Planning From Southaven or Memphis

Getting your guests down I-55

Your guests from DeSoto County and Memphis follow one interstate south, and it's a simple drive to explain. Some ideas:

  • Put "about 1.5–2 hours south of Southaven on I-55" and the address on your wedding website.
  • Choose an afternoon or evening ceremony so guests can leave home that morning.
  • If guests are coming from farther away, have them fly into Memphis and treat the drive down as part of the trip.

The weekend stay

The Weekend package (from $4,000) includes overnight stays in the Alva House, which sleeps 10–14. Your wedding party can arrive the day before, set up decor at an easy pace, have a rehearsal dinner on site, and wake up there. Cabins are an add-on if more family wants to stay close.

Weekday savings

A Monday–Thursday wedding starts at $1,500. That's a good fit for a smaller guest list, an elopement-style ceremony in the chapel, or couples who want to put more of their budget toward the honeymoon.

A covered plan if it rains

Mid-South weather changes fast. Your ceremony can be inside Hopewell Chapel and your reception inside the Reception Barn, so you aren't renting a tent in a hurry. See our Mississippi wedding rain plan.

Family farther south?

If half the family is in Southaven and the other half is around Jackson, Duck Hill is about the same drive for both. More on that in why Memphis, Jackson & Southaven couples choose Alvastage Acres.
